Review of Blendtec Blender - Will It Blend?

My Honest Blendtec Blender Review: Blendtec offers some of the highest-performance blenders for residential and commercial use.  By combining powerful motors, precision speed control, and preprogrammed settings, they provide an excellent blending experience.  Make yourself a smoothie with your new Blendtec blender when you are on the go.  If you are in the market for a blender, I hope my review helps you find the right blender for your needs.

Buying A Blendtec Blender Online Review

First, this is not a sponsored Blendtec Blender review; I bought my blender online from Costco.   This top blender does pretty much everything.  Purchasing a small kitchen machine online can be nerve-racking, so I figured you could benefit from my review.   I have owned many blenders in my lifetime, and I have to point out that the Blendtec Original Designer is the best blender I have ever owned.  It is multi-functional, and its features are great!

Since I love to cook, it makes whipping homemade deviled eggs and food much easier.  I also love to make smoothies, and it crushes ice and frozen fruits with no problem.  Since I am on the go a lot, I love that it automatically shuts off so I can turn on the blender and do something, and when I get back to it is off.

The Best Blendtec Blenders Review - To Buy Online

The Blendtec Original Designer Series Blender: Best For Customizable

I love my Blendtec Original Designer Blender: This small kitchen appliance has touchscreen controls that allow hassle-free operation.  I love its six presets, which I use frequently, and multiple motor speeds that enable me to use precise control blending.

Pros

  • Intuitive touch button controls
  • Self-cleaning function
  • Large wide-mouth jar

Cons

  • The base slips slightly during processing

This Blendtec Original Designer 90-oz blender is suitable for smoothies, soup, shakes, and juice.  It boasts a self-cleaning feature that makes cleaning up quick after use.  This blender has a cyclonic system that pushes all ingredients inward toward the blades.  I love the touch control panel.  It features a speed slider, enabling me to adjust settings easily and quickly.  This device is quiet, making it a good choice because I blend foods for long periods.

Nonetheless, this appliance tends to move during processing and lacks a non-slip base to keep it in place.  One of my favorite small kitchen appliances is my drip coffee maker.   If I could, I would live off of coffee; I love it that much.

About the Blendtec Jar

The Blendtec Original Designer, a 90-oz blender, has a sizeable BPA-free pitcher with a blending volume of roughly 36 ounces to deal with large quantities of ingredients quickly and efficiently. The jar makes hassle-free measuring. This blender heats ingredients in only a few minutes, making it an excellent choice for hot soup recipes. The appliance comes in different finishes, from stainless steel to red finish. I own the red blender; it is a deep red, not a bright red. It is beautiful! The device's color and sleek look add a touch of elegance to any kitchen. It comes with eight motor speeds plus six presets for straightforward customization.

Blendtec Blender

Introduction to Blendtec Blenders

Blendtec was created in the 1970s by Tom Dickinson with the wheat meal. His innovative concepts made flour grinding faster than other clunky appliances on the market back then. In the 1990s, Dickson created the “Total Blender” to bridge his innovative ideas into the blending industry.

Today, Blendtec is one of the leading innovations, especially regarding high-end blenders. Tom has continued to drive the creativity of his product line, making Blendtec a well-known name in the kitchen industry and holding Blendtec's ranking as a top contender alongside other popular name-brand competitors.

Blendtec Blender Key Features

Blendtec's technical innovations have led to some unique cutting-edge features, like smart touch technology, an automatic shut-off for the machine that provides a motor protection system that detects jams and loading errors that can occur overheating during the blending process. Plus, it has a self-timer; click the blend setting you want, and the device shuts off when the processing is complete.

Blendtec blenders boast one of the industry's most powerful motors. Therefore, a Blendtec model is the best fit for you if you are looking to buy a blender capable of making nut butter and blending through the toughest ingredients.

Con

Although there is a trade-off for the blender to provide power, a strong motor creates noise. A few hundred additional watts will likely increase the decibels in your kitchen. There is one exception, however, the sought-after Blendtec Professional 800 because it comes with sound protection that reduces the noise to decibel levels similar to that of a conversation.

Pro Tip:  Blendtec does not recommend its home products for commercial use; this can null and void your warranty protection if you do.

How Long Will It Last?

According to different consumer reports, Blendtec ranks “fair” on reliability; since other high-end brands rank much higher in this area during its first four years after buying, Blendtec places towards the bottom of the list.

Although a blender's longevity is challenging to determine because of usage, care, maintenance, and model type, all are part of the equation. I have owned my Blendtec blender since 2017 and have not had any issues, and it still functions like the day I took it out of the box. On that note, Blendtec recommends immediate and long-term cleaning routines to care for your kitchen appliance and improve its durability. Though the jars are made from Eastman Tritan copolyester, labeled dishwasher-friendly, BPA-free plastic that is also NSF certified, washing them by hand may help improve your device's longevity.

How To Care For Blender's Jar

Add hot water and mild dish soap to wash your blender's pitcher, then click the “pulse” setting for five seconds. Although, some of the other models have a “clean” option that you can use instead of manually. For heavy-duty cleaning, I use a brush to clean my blender by filling the jar with hot water and adding mild soap, stirring for ten seconds. Rinse thoroughly and rinse and dry. Doing these steps should help improve the longevity and performance of your appliance.

Warranties

Blendtec outshines other brands and makes up for its high-cost appliances by providing some of the best warranties. Their refurbished blenders offer a 1-year warranty, while all other brands only range from 2 to 10 years. The warranty is based on the blender model; although the more expensive the blender, the better the warranty.   It also covers parts and labor; for an added cost, you can buy an extended warranty.

It is essential to remember that Blendtec only covers everyday household use and does not cover any cosmetic damage or commercial use for residential blenders.

Why You Should Buy A Blendtec Blender Is It Worth It?

I think the Blendtec blender is worth it, and I absolutely love it! It has made my morning smoothie routine so much easier and quicker. The blender is incredibly powerful and can easily blend even the toughest ingredients. I also love how easy it is to clean – the blades come off easily, and the pitcher is dishwasher safe. I highly recommend the Blendtec blender to anyone in the market for a high-quality blender.

If you can upgrade your old blender for a sleeker, high-performance appliance, then a Blendtec blender is ideal.  Despite its high cost, Blendtec won't disappoint in performance or longevity either.  Durable plastic pitchers and stainless steel blades help it last for years.

Although most people have seen a blender at one point or another, if you are going to buy one for the first time, you can go right with a Blendtec blender as your first blender in the industry.  The user-friendly face panel sports a touch-screen display, pre-programmed settings, and various fixed blend times.  One of the key features that make this appliance stand out from the rest is this blender is a touch-and-go machine that allows you to click a setting of choice and step away while your blender does all the hard work.

A deterrent may be that it can seem expensive, but they are designed and built to last for heavy-duty use with an excellent warranty.  This means you won't spend money on a replacement blender in a few years.

I Love Gadgets and Smart Home

I am a gadgets gal, which is no surprise since I am in the Information Technology field.  I control my home with Siri, including my smart light bulbs, air conditioner thermostat and an EcoBee smart thermostat.  I also got my hands on the Hilife Handheld Steamer and wrote up a review about it.  It is a nifty little portable steamer, that's for sure.

Where To Buy?

Are you interested in buying a Blendtec Blender after reading my review?  I purchased the Blendtec Designer Series from Costco in 2017, and they still carry it; plus, it comes with the Wildside+ & Go Cup.

If you prefer not to buy from Costco or don't have a membership, you can buy it from Amazon or Blendtec's Website.  If you don't want to pay full price, you may find a good fit – below are links to the refurbished blenders on both Blendec and Amazon.  Amazon offers other refurbished brands like Vitamix.  My mother has a Vitamix, but I found the Blendtec Blender is better.

They have it new or refurbished, and you can buy each jar separately if you need a second or more jars.

FAQ: Questions and Answers Online Blendtec Blender Review

Do any of the Blendtec models offer a glass jar?

Blendtec does not offer glass jars, and Blendtec only provides long-lasting and durable plastic pitchers. Blendtec says safety is their number one priority, and glass pitchers with high-speed velocities have the potential to shatter. Plus, also argue that the copolyester jars are lighter and therefore easier to handle. Additionally, all their pitchers are BPA-free and NSF-compliant.

Can you use the Blendtec blender as a food processor?

While Blendtec doesn't advertise its blenders as food processors, the blender performs very similarly in its function. Add-on accessories like the Twister Jar cater to making nut butter, hummus, and baby food. Their high-powered blenders can also grind grains, make whole juice, and blend coffee beans.

How does Vitamix compare to Blendtec models?

Ultimately, it comes down to one's preference, as Blendtec and Vitamix are two of the highest-performing blenders on the market. Vitamix received better reviews for reliability but rated equally on consumer satisfaction, convenience, and durability against tough ingredients based on consumer reports. Vitamix is priced similarly on their beginner and mid-level products, but Blendtec has higher-priced professional models and offers a separate line of commercial products on their site.

Does Blendtec offer different jar attachments?

Blendtec offers many different jar accessories for various kitchen tasks. For example, the WildSide+ jar is a popular, high-volume pitcher advertised as 25% more efficient at blending frozen ingredients and can knead the dough. Additionally, its safety blade is made ten times stronger than others to work through your toughest dry ingredients. The Rebel+ jar has the same specs as the Wildside+ but offers a 90-ounce capacity and tamper-free blending.
