Conventional acne treatments like salicylic acid, niacinamide, or benzoyl peroxide have proven to be the most effective acne solutions but they tend to be costly and have unwanted side effects such as dryness, redness, and irritation.  A less expensive and non toxic option is to try, DIY cider vinegar green tea toner works great on acne-prone skin.  Plus, you can also try one of our DIY body butter recipes which work great for your face.

Link Between Diet and Acne

To some degree, we all know some foods can make acne better or worse.   The most reliable evidence to date suggests a diet with a high intake of refined carbs such as French fries, candy bars, doughnuts can lead to insulin resistance, and androgenic hormones can make acne worse.

Three studies in the
American Journal of Clinical Dermatology have reported a link between milk and acne.  One study found teens had a 44 percent higher chance of developing severe acne if they consumed more than two glasses of milk a day.  Thus, this may be because of the naturally occurring hormones in cow's milk and hormone supplements given to cows for increased milk production.  Therefore there is a link between acne and dairy; there has not been a link with fermented dairy products such as Greek yogurt or kefir, a fermented dairy drink that you should add to your diet.

Cleansing Apple Cider Vinegar Face Toner

Green Beauty - Cleansing The Skin Naturally

Part of your daily skin routine, is to wash your skin daily but do it gently.  I recommend you wash it twice a day, in the morning and at night.  Also, be sure to use a gentle natural soap like glycerin soap.  You can make your face and body soap; you know what is in it, no fragrances or harmful chemicals.   Plus, you can make an Apple Cider Vinegar Green Tea Toner, which works great and is easy to make.

Also, vinegar works as a gentle skin exfoliator to remove dead skin cells, hard for bacteria to thrive, and dissolves the oil that clogs your pores. Furthermore, Green Tea decreases sebum production, helps improve acne.  Moreover, Tea tree oil is an essential oil with many ways of using it; it is both antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory.  Lavender Essential Oil helps to sooth and calm the skin which is important after using Apple Cider Vinegar. It also helps make the toner smell nice for those that are bothered about the smell of Apple Cider Vinegar.
