Lavender shea whipped body butter is one of my favorites, because Cocoa and Shea butter help reduce the appearance of scars, stretch marks and brings moisture to the skin. Therefore, it leaves my skin soft, moisturized, and healthy. Also, this non-toxic whipped body butter can be customized with any essential oil of your choice. Not to mention essential oils are fragrant, and have properties that help the body and our skin.

Our skin is the largest organ in our body, it is essential we take care of it. This luxurious diy shea body butter will do just that.

  • Shea Butter (What is a body butter) – provides essential fatty acids and also contains skin loving Vitamins A & E, for dry skin but suitable for all skin types
  • Cocoa Butter – is ground and milled cacao nibs, it has natural antioxidant Vitamin E, and  some other vitamins and minerals
  • Jojoba oil (What is a Carrier Oil) – Similar to other skincare carrier oils, jojoba oil contains a lot of vitamins, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory properties, that are great for the skin, but technically it is not an oil, but a wax ester.

INGREDIENTS

Whipped Shea Butter

INSTRUCTIONS

  1.  Measure all butters and carrier oil
  2. Heat 2 to 3 inches inches of water in a saucepan on low
  3. Combine butters in an oven-safe, glass measuring cup or a double boiler. Place glass container in the water until butter melts
  4. Add jojoba oil, stirring every few minutes, until the ingredients are melted and combined. The cooler jojoba oil may cause some of the mixture to solidify, so continue stirring until the mixture is completely liquefied again. Tip: For easy cleanup use a popsicle stick
  5. After mixture has fully melted and mixed, remove from heat.
  6. Add essential oils and stir to combine (Don't add oils if mixture is to hot. Wait until it is cool to the touch.)
  7. Let it rest in a cool place (such as the refrigerator) until it has set.
  8. Once mixture looks waxy and is starting to solidify, take out of refrigerator. With a stand mixer or hand mixer, start on low and slowly turn the speed higher until the lotion becomes light and fluffy (around 3–5 minutes).  It will have the consistency of whipped cream.
Note: Store Mixture

If you want to store your product in small containers these are wonderful, a cosmetic jar, if you prefer plastic cosmetic jars be sure it is BPA free, and keep in a cool place. You can always use an empty jar you have, just make sure it is clean. If needed, re-fluff the body butter by whipping it back up to the desired consistency with a hand mixture.
